School Visits

Malham Cove

In May, Proud Pupils from Key Stage 1 visited Malham Cove in North Yorkshire.  The children enjoyed a walk and picnic around Malham Cove and lavished in the breath-taking scenery!  Not only was it an enjoyable outing for them, but it was the first outing for our brand new minibus!

National Coal Mining Museum

June saw our Proud Pupils visiting The National Coal Mining Museum.  They were given a tour around the engine house, control room and stable yard as well as an underground tour of the coal mine.  During the underground tour, the children descended 140 metres underground (complete with a helmet and cap-lamp) to see first-hand what life was like for a miner through the ages.  An ex-miner led the children through the history of mining right up to the present day.  Although a little scary at times for some, they all enjoyed such a wonderful experience.

The Deep, Hull

In June, children in Year 2 had the opportunity to visit The Deep as part of their topic ‘Beneath the Ocean’. They were able to explore the wonders of the sea and come face to face with some amazing creatures that live in the waters of our world. As part of our visit the children took part in workshop where they learnt about the importance of keeping our coastlines clean and free from pollution that may harm marine life. This was a thoroughly enjoyable learning experience for everyone.

Cannon Hall Farm

Children in Year 1 and Early Years visited Cannon Hall Farm during the summer term. They learnt about farmyard animals and how they are cared for.

The Zone

In July, Proud Pupils from Key Stage 1 visited The Zone Adventure Play Area. The children enjoyed free time to play on the equipment and have a picnic lunch.  A well - deserved treat for their positive attitudes and dedication to learning all year.

Summer Camp Out

In July, our Proud Pupils experienced a night under canvas exploring the great outdoors!  After setting up camp, the children roamed the hills and valleys of Holmfirth taking in the fauna and wildlife around them.  Upon returning back to camp, the children enjoyed a 5-star barbecue followed by a game of cricket and rounders before taking part in the camp quiz.  After a good night’s sleep, the children woke up bright and early for their second walk of the weekend before finishing off in ‘Compo’s Chippy’ for a well-deserved chippy lunch! A great time was had by all and we hope to organise another camping trip next summer.

29th November - Aladdin

‘Aladdin’ at the Lawrence Batley Theatre. The children will be hopping onto a magic carpet to experience another family favourite in this traditional pantomime. Full of familiar faces (including some of our very own Christ Church Academy pupils), popular songs and side splitting comedy!

6th December - Santa Special

‘Santa Special’ at Shepley Bridge Marina in Mirfield. Our Key Stage 1 Proud Pupils visited Santa as part of a special event organised by the Safe Anchor Trust. They had the opportunity to meet Santa on the barge, receive a gift and take part in a Christmas Activity workshop.

13th December - The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe

‘The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe’ at Chatsworth House, Derbyshire. This was a chance for the children to experience the wonders and history of a stately home and its gardens.  The house was themed as ‘The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe’ with the story told as the children toured the house.  Following a tour around the house, the children were able to visit the farmyard and adventure playground.
