We consider ourselves very lucky here at Christ Church to be blessed with extensive wonderful grounds and outdoor areas for our children to explore and enjoy.
To further enhance the opportunities we offer our pupils in developing their spiritual awareness and a quiet place to reflect and pray, our foundation governors, RE Lead and Premises Manager have worked closely with the ‘Prince’s Trust’ designing and developing a spiritual garden within the main playground.
This sits beside our school garden where all our vegetables grow and flowers blossom.
Given the hustle and bustle of today’s busy world, spirituality is an area of children’s development which can be easily overlooked. The spiritual garden is a place where children and adults can sit quietly, enjoying the peace and calm of natural surroundings.
The garden has a seating area along with a wonderful array of plants which stimulate the senses with their bright colours, fragrance and textures; the soothing sounds of a wind chime; a cross upon entering the garden that reflects the foundation of our school; stepping stones and paved areas and a fountain or water feature as a reminder of Jesus as the ‘Water of Life’.
