Extra Curricular

Here at Christ Church CE Academy we take pride in offering our pupils the opportunity to participate a wide range of extra-curricular activities.  The activities are designed to broaden and develop the mind and body.

Our pupils have regular opportunities to visit stately homes and local art exhibitions and perform in our local theatres.

Children get the chance to experience residential trips to ‘Robinwood’ where they take part in outdoor adventurous activities and this year (2014-15) we will be taking children to Keswick Youth Hostel in the Lake District for a 2-night residential.  Here they will have the chance to experience hill walking, ghyll scrambling and canoeing.

We use various local agencies to support our extra-curricular work including ‘Fidget Feet Dance’, ‘Junior Jam’, ‘Diva Dance Fever’ and ‘Pro-Soccer’.  We also have strong links with Deighton Into Sport Project, Kirklees Young People Services and Pennine Sports Partnership as approved providers.

The school holds competitive fixtures against other schools which take place after school in sports such as cycling, tennis, football, netball, athletics, cricket and swimming.

We also aim to support pupils in gaining accreditation, such as the Archbishop of York Youth Trust Award, the Sports Leaders’ Award and our very own Christ Church CE Academy Vocational Award.
