Extra Curricular

Here at Christ Church CE Academy we take pride in offering our pupils the opportunity to participate a wide range of extra-curricular activities.  The activities are designed to broaden and develop the mind and body.

Our pupils have regular opportunities to visit stately homes and local art exhibitions and perform in our local theatres (Strictly Pennine Dance Competition).

At the end of Key Stage 2, children get the chance to experience residential trips to ‘Robinwood’ where they take part in outdoor adventurous activities and have, for the last 4 years had the opportunity to stay in the Lake District for a 2-night residential where they have had the chance to experience hill walking up Cat Bells, ghyll scrambling and canoeing.

We use various local agencies to support our extra-curricular work including:

Relax Kids:  promoting mental health and well-being through yoga, pilates and mindfulness.

ACES:   delivering Healthy Lifestyle programmes.

We also have strong links Pennine Sports Partnership as approved providers.

The school holds competitive fixtures against other schools which take place after school in sports such as cycling, tennis, football, netball, athletics, cricket and swimming.

We also aim to support pupils in gaining accreditation, such as the Archbishop of York Youth Trust Award, the Sports Leaders’ Award and our very own Christ Church CE Academy Vocational Award.
