Barnardo's Equality Ambassadors

(CCA awarded Beacon School status in April 2020)

During the academic year 2019/20 staff, pupils and governors trained and worked with  the children’s charity ‘Barnardo’s’ and Positive Identities in adopting a whole school approach to fostering inclusive learning environments and tacking HBT (homophobic, biphobic and transphobic) behaviours.

Educating our children about the diversity of modern Britain within the school environment is important to us and enables all pupils to feel included and develop inclusive and accepting attitudes to those who might be different to them.

Barnardo's trained 25 pupils across Years 4, 5 and 6  to become ‘Barnardo’s Equality Ambassadors’ (BEAms).  While our (then) Year 5 and (then) Year 6 Ambassadors have now left Christ Church and moved on to high school, we do still have our (now) Year 6 Ambassadors to carry on their good work in school.

We shall of course be training more Ambassadors throughout this academic year 2021/22.

Having an ambassador scheme ensures that there are named people within school who will fight for equal rights, challenge discrimination, and help ensure that school is an inclusive environment for all.
