Thought for the day

Tuesday 31st March
A man was walking along a beach when he spotted a young boy standing on the sand, surrounded by hundreds of starfish. As the tide had gone out, the starfish were is distress and would die if they didn’t get back to the sea. The man watched as the boy picked up a starfish and threw it into the receding tide. He picked up another. And another.

After observing the boy’s actions with an ironic smile, the man walked over to him and said, “What are you doing? There are thousands of stranded starfish here. You can’t make a difference.”

The boy looked around him and, with determination, picked up another starfish and threw it into the sea. Her turned to the man and said, “I made a difference to that one.”

One person may not be able to make a difference in the world, but they can make a difference in somebody’s world.

Stay safe. Be positive.

God Bless.

Monday 30th March

I recently came across this story from a village in Yorkshire.

Local residents in Ripon are placing pieces of green paper in their windows as a signal to those who may be passing while taking their daily exercise, that they are OK in their homes. If they place a piece of red paper in the window, it means that they are in need of shopping, medication or a lift to somewhere where it is essential for them to go.

This way of signalling when help is needed, is being hailed as an excellent idea that should be adopted across the country.  Indeed it is, but let us not forget the other ‘signals’ that people give when we are not in a crisis situation: those little cries for help. Let us not just come together when the world is in crisis, but let’s also come together for those around us when ‘their world’ is in crisis.

Stay safe. Be positive.

God Bless.
